MLK "day of service" at the Boutique

We hosted our 2nd annual "day of service" to honor Dr. King, at CCCB. Members of AmeriCorp and community members gathered on Monday January 19th at our building to help sort and organize clothing donations. The upstairs hasn't looked this good since we bought the building!!! With this massive effort, we are now able to clearly see what we have short comings of! We are so grateful for our volunteers, without them, we couldn't do what we do.

With just a glance, our boys and girls size 14-16 shirts and pants are very low. Our ladies and young men's size small are almost non existent. We have about 10 pair of boys 7-8 pants which will go to JES in the morning to restock their closet. While this is nothing new to us, I just want to highlight the struggles we face while trying to provide this service to school based clothing closets. The need within our community is great.

After we wrapped on our day of service, I received a message on our FB page from Baylee Wojcik, a news reporter from WJAC channel 6 TV. She asked if anyone was available to give an interview to highlight our mission. Check out our interview right here.
