Sorry, We are busy DOING!

It's been awhile since we have posted, and it's because we have been "executing".

We have been in a posture of WORK, WORK, WORK, with very little time to stop, thank and reflect. There have been so many wonderful changes to report! Ice cream season was BUSY, which is great, because all proceeds fund the Cambria County Clothing Boutique Initiative.

While ice cream season was in FULL THROTTLE, we were also working in our building. We hosted campers from Pine Springs Camp, who chose to spend their summer vacation by giving back. CCCB was selected by campers to give back, in the form of community services projects. These campers, painted our wall on the Green, removed the sunken bar and massive hanging light fixture in our building, and raised the floor where the sunken bar once was. To say this was a big project is an understatement. The work took place over the course of weeks!

We also had several groups that hosted clothing and hygiene drives. We want to thank to Holy Cross Lutheran Church, St. Peter and Paul's Lutheran Church in Central City, Our Mother of Sorrow's and The Cambria County Democratic Party for their generosity and support for our mission. Without their support, we simply could not fill the needs of this school year.

This School year, we have held 2 free clothing giveaways, for parent engagement night. The first was at Johnstown Elementary in September, and the 2nd was held at Ferndale Middle/High School. Our mission is to provide school based clothing closets with seasonally appropriate school appropriate clothing but we also want to support the families who are engaged with their children's schooling. These events allowed parents to shop for clothing, for themselves, as CCCB tends to get a lot of beautiful clothing that is for adults, not teenagers. Both events were EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL and we intend to have more during parent engagement.

As if all of this isn't enough to fill our plate, we have a newly partnered school! Conemaugh Valley Elementary serves approximately 380 students ranging in grades PreK-3 through 6th. We built out the tiny but mighty clothing closet, which is located in the school's library. This buildout is not typical, as the space allotted is a tall panty cabinet and 2 over the counter cabinets, which doesn't allow for hanging of clothing. Nevertheless, we are still providing highly organized clothing with storage for rapid distribution. As of November 1, we had already distributed 358 pairs of pants and 601 pair of underwear! That is 193 pair of pants more that last year at this exact time frame. The need is not going away, it is only getting deeper. We want to thank everyone who has donated to Cambria County Clothing Boutique. Without your donations, would simply couldn't sustain the program.
